It was a very reasonable 4 degrees celsius this past weekend, so Julian and I took to the streets to get some much-needed vitamin D. I managed to get a solid amount of sketching done, and was quite pleased with the results. Loitering in the bus terminal at Oslo Sentralstasjon with pen and paper will likely become my go-to Sunday activity.
Here are some samples:
>In Oslo S, a lesbian couple waiting for a train obligingly stayed put until I had finished drawing them.
>sitting outside the Grand Hotel (into which we had just ventured in search of a free toilet)
>Not much to say about this fellow, except that he looked as if he would feel right at home in rural North Carolina.
When I was in New York last June I developed a particular affinity for those multi-colored ballpoint pens you can get at Muji. They cost like $10 apiece but they write marvelously, not like the Bic version, which only comes with four colors and writes like Baby’s First Shit. I was delighted to find that there is a Muji store here in Oslo, but even more delighted when my mother presented me with six of those lovely things this past Christmas. I won’t go so far as to say I’ll never sketch without a Muji pen, but I’ll be much less cheerful while I’m doing it.
Finally, I’m pleased to be able to say I was recently blogged (albeit briefly.) The site is called “SUPAHblog” and you can check the post out here. Naturally, I feel pretty cool. A big thank you to Ursula for the exposure.
